Bradford City have this afternoon announced a triple transfer swoop, with Stuart McCall moving late in the window to secure three new signings ahead of the weekend.

The Bantams took to their official Twitter account to announce the arrival of Burton Albion duo, Stephen Warnock and Matthew Lund on loan deals until the end of the season, whilst Ryan McGowan has also arrived as a free agent.

Both Warnock and Lund have been allowed to leave the Pirelli Stadium on-loan, with neither featuring regularly under Nigel Clough during the first-half of the Sky Bet Championship season.

Warnock, a left-back with Premier League experience, bolsters McCall’s options on the left-side of his defence and returns to Bradford, where he previously had a brief spell, whilst 27-year-old Lund also follows his Burton teammate to Valley Parade on a temporary deal.

McGowan joins Bradford permanently, linking up with McCall’s squad as a free agent and on an 18-month contract, which ties him to the League One outfit until the summer of 2019.

The versatile defender is an Australian international and made a name for himself in Scottish football, featuring for Hearts and Dundee United.

The trio join Bradford, who for another year, are going in search of a Championship return.

McCall’s side currently sit fifth, but have seen their confidence take a hit in recent weeks, with the Bantams suffering three consecutive league defeats, as well as bowing out of the FA Cup in the third-round.

The Verdict

This could be a very shrewd move by McCall, who is bringing two players with Championship quality to Valley Parade.

The addition of both Warnock and Lund will bring a mix of experience and quality, with Warnock in particular an astute signing, given the pedigree of experience he brings.

McGowan has no experience in English football, but having played at a reasonable level in Scotland, he should have the ability to adapt to life in League One.
