Bolton Wanderers have successfully completed the signing of Aaron Wilbraham, the club's official website reports.

Aaron Wilbraham joins Bolton Wanderers after he agreed to have his contract terminated by mutual consent with Bristol City.

The 37-year-old had spent the last three seasons at Ashton Gate.

In the 2014/15 campaign, Wilbraham netted 21 goals to fire the Robins to promotion back to the Championship but he has had to settle for a bit-part role in the past two seasons.

Jonathan Kodjia was the leading striker for Bristol City in the 2015/16 season and then Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham was the main marksman last term.

Wilbraham has subsequently decided to pen a one year deal with newly promoted Bolton Wanderers, who are relying on free transfers and loan deals due to a transfer embargo.

The 6ft 3in target man boasts vast and invaluable experience of playing in the Football League, having represented a number of teams including Stockport County, Hull City, Milton Keynes Dons, Norwich City and Crystal Palace in his career.

The veteran striker was Bristol City's club captain before he left this summer, meaning that he'll add some much-appreciated leadership to the Bolton Wanderers ranks.

After over 100 appearances for the Robins, Wilbraham has decided that a move to Bolton is the right step for his career.

The Verdict

In Aaron Wilbraham, Bolton Wanderers have a very physical target man, who is a useful squad player to have at this level.

The 37-year-old's best days are behind him, of course, but he could still do a job as a like-for-like deputy to Gary Madine.

Wilbraham's decision might have been a logistical one; the Knutsford-born man might be heading back closer to home as his career draws to an end.
