Blackpool have signed Ian Black on a short term deal, reports the official website.

Ian Black puts pen to paper on a deal until the end of the 2016/17 campaign to bolster Blackpool’s options in central midfield.

The 31-year-old joins on a free after being released by League One strugglers Shrewsbury Town in January.

The once-capped Scottish international joined Shrewsbury in 2015 after spells with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hearts and Rangers in Scotland.

His time in Scotland included two promotions and a Scottish Cup win.

After more than 50 games for the Shrews, Black left last month and has now teamed up with Blackpool until the end of the season.

The Tangerines have swooped to sign Black after injuries to central midfield duo Neil Danns and Jim McAlister.

With the season entering the final stages, Blackpool are six points off the play-off zone but have a game in hand over most of the teams around them.
