Jones, who is 19-years-old and plays in defence, signed for Liverpool from Plymouth Argyle back in 2011 and has become a regular in the club’s U21 side in recent seasons and is also the current captain of the team.

His progress in the U21 side earned him a place in the first-team squad for the trip to Fulham in May 2013.

Jones has also been capped at U20 level for England and has experience at Football League level with two successful loan spells with Cheltenham Town and Accrington Stanley last season.

He will now look to try and continue his development in the game with more first-team football under Neal McDonald at Bloomfield Road.

The young centre-half trained with his new team-mates this morning and could feature in a friendly against Lancaster tomorrow.
