Championship side Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of striker Liam Feeney, reports the official club website.

Feeney signs for the Lancashire club on a two-year deal, with the option to extend that by one more year, from League One club Bolton. The 29-year-old had spent a period on loan with Rovers during the 2013/14 season.

The London-born attacker started his career with Hayes before moving to rival non-league club Salisbury City where he spent a brief time on loan with Southend. He made the move up to the Football League when he signed for Bournemouth in 2009 for an undisclosed fee.

It was at Bournemouth that Feeney's reputation grew as he scored 14 goals in 120 appearances for the Cherries, this helped to seal a move to Millwall where he scored just 3 goals in 83 appearances.

Loan spells at Bolton and Blackburn came before a permanent transfer to the former, where Feeney bagged 8 goals in 88 games. He had a stint on loan with Ipswich last season where he hit the net once in 7 matches.

Feeney stated "I feel good about it. I was here before on loan for a short spell, so it is good to finally be back permanently and I think it is going to be an exciting season for the club.

"Obviously I'd been here before and I knew about the stature of the club, the stadium, the training facilities and the fans’ support.

"Speaking to the manager and how positive he was, I thought nothing but good things about it, so it is an exciting time and something that I can be a part of.

"The way he spoke to me filled me with a lot of confidence and he outlined what he wants to do, so it should be really good. I'm just glad I can be a part of that and hopefully we can have a successful season."

The striker becomes manager Owen Coyle's fourth signing of the summer transfer window following the transfers of Anthony Stokes, Danny Graham, and Stephen Hendrie.
