Blackburn Rovers have confirmed on their official website that John O’Sullivan has left the club by mutual consent.

O’Sullivan’s contract has been terminated after he came to an agreement with the club about releasing him.

The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international joined the Blackburn academy in 2009, at the age of 15, and leaves after more than 7 years with the club.

The 23-year-old only managed six first team appearances during his time at Ewood Park and had numerous loan spells.

These included stints with Southport, Barnsley, Rochdale, Bury and two spells at Accrington Stanley.

The attacking midfielder is now available on a free transfer after cancelling his contract by mutual agreement with Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers stated on the official website that they thank O’Sullivan for his hard work and dedication over the years and wish him plenty of success in his future endeavours.
