Blackburn Rovers have signed Harry Chapman on a season long loan deal, the club's official website has confirmed.

Middlesbrough winger Harry Chapman will spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Blackburn Rovers in League One.

Blackburn Rovers, who were relegated from the Championship last season, have brought in Chapman to improve their attacking midfield regions.

The England under-20 international was part of the squad which won the U20 European Championships this summer - he was an unused substitute in the final against Venezuela.

Last season, the 19-year-old was on loan at Sheffield United, helping the Blades win promotion to the Championship by winning the League One title.

The Boro starlet played fourteen games in all competitions for the Blades, although he was largely used as a substitute.

His finest moment in red and white came when he netted a hat trick in the FA Cup against Leyton Orient.

Despite his young age, Harry Chapman brings knowledge and experience of winning promotion from League One before.

Prior to his time with Sheffield United, the lively winger helped Barnsley to win promotion via the play-offs.

Harry Chapman becomes the eight signing of the summer for Tony Mowbray at Blackburn Rovers.

The talented teenager follows Peter Whittingham, Ben Gladwin, Bradley Dack, Dominic Samuel, Paul Caddis, Jayson Leutwiler and Richie Smallwood through the door at Ewood Park.

The Verdict

Harry Chapman will be hoping for more game time than he got last season.

To stake a claim for a place in the Boro squad next season, Chapman will need to prove his worth in League One for Blackburn.

As far as Blackburn are concerned, this new signing has filled a position which needs addressing.
