Birmingham City have made defender Noe Baba’s stay permanent after agreeing a one-year deal with the player, the club website confirmed.
The 19-year-old has been on trial with the Blues this summer after he was released by Fulham.
Baba said he was glad that his trial period convinced the club to sign him. He told the official website, “I’ve been training here for the last month and it’s been very good.
“I’m very pleased and I think it’s a very good opportunity for me.
“I just want to kick on and start again with something I love doing”.
The Irish international, capable of playing in both defence and midfield, arrived at the Craven Cottage from Irish side Castlebar Celtic in 2013 – he developed through the ranks and became a mainstay in the U18 and U21 sides despite injuries.
The Cameroon-born moved with his family to Ireland and played for the national team, getting the nod to captain the U17 team in the UEFA qualifying matches last October.
The deal came as it was announced that Canada defender David Edgar was loaned out to Sheffield United, and it will be interesting to see if the Blues’ new acquisition will provide the perfect replacement.
Baba’s debut with Birmingham could come as soon as Bristol Rovers encounter in the Capital One Cup tonight.
