Championship club Birmingham City have revealed the signing of Brentford’s Harlee Dean as confirmed by the club’s official website.

The 26-year-old centre-back put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the option of extending it by a further year.

Dean has become Harry Redknapp’s tenth signing of what has proven to be a very busy summer for the club.

Brentford’s club captain for last season featured 42 times for the Bees as they managed a respectable tenth place finish in the league.

Despite all of the new additions to Birmingham’s squad, the Blues currently sit in 20th place in the Championship with just one win from their opening five games.

The defender, who stands at a towering 6’3”, will wear the number 12 for Birmingham.

The Verdict

Harlee Dean didn’t win the supporters player of the year award last season by mistake.

He won it thanks to consistent top-quality performances as he led his team to a very good position in the league table.

Out of all the signings Redknapp has brought into the club this summer, Dean has the potential to make the most impact at St Andrew's.

Despite him not being given the armband upon arrival, he is still a leader.

He’s a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Bringing his experience and leadership qualities to the squad will only strengthen the side and hopefully, for the club’s sake, improve results too.
