Done Deal: Birmingham City confirm their new manager

Published

on

Birmingham City have officially announced the appointment of Harry Redknapp as their new manager.

Birmingham City moved fast to name a new manager after Gianfranco Zola resigned from his post after yesterday’s disappointing 2-0 home defeat against fellow relegation candidates Burton Albion.

Zola was an unpopular choice from the start with Blues fans when he took over from Gary Rowett in mid-December.

Many Birmingham fans felt that Rowett had done a very good job with the limited resources he had available to him at St Andrew’s and he was sacked with Birmingham sat in 7th place.

His replacement, Zola, managed just two wins in four months at the helm and that saw the Blues spiral downwards and into a relegation battle.

Harry Redknapp’s first task will be to keep the Blues afloat in the Championship – they currently sit 3 points above the drop with inferior goal difference.

Redknapp brings vast experience, having managed many clubs in the Premier League such as West Ham, Southampton, Portsmouth, Tottenham and QPR.

Birmingham fans – Redknapp: good appointment or not? Will he keep you up? Let us know in the comments below…
