Championship promotion hopefuls Aston Villa have completed the loan signing of Lewis Grabban who pens terms until the end of the 2017/18 campaign having joined from Bournemouth.

The Villains have confirmed the deal on their official website this evening and the prolific striker will naturally enhance the club's chances of earning a top two spot in the Championship.

The 30-year-old spent the first of the campaign on loan with struggling Sunderland where he netted 12 goals before returning to Dean Court at the start of January.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock had hoped to lure Grabban to the Cardiff City Stadium but Villa have got one over their rivals by luring the man to the West Midlands.

Grabban has a wealth of Championship experience having spent time with Norwich City and Reading in recent seasons and boss Bruce will hope he can now fire Villa back into the Premier League.

The Verdict

Grabban is without doubt one of the most feared marksmen in the Championship and this could be the best piece of business done by any club today.

His 10 goals at the start of the campaign in a struggling Sunderland side were a sign of the player's determination and this move to a team flying high looks more suited to the striker.
