Done Deal: Aston Villa confirm multi-million pound deal

Published

Aston Villa have confirmed that Dr Tony Xia has completed his £76 million takeover of the club, according to BBC Sport.

Xia was in London yesterday to finalise the details of the takeover with the Football League and will succeed Randy Lerner at Villa Park, who bought the Midlands club back in 2006

He published a message on his social media account, Weibo, which is a popular social media source in China revealing that his proposals had been a success.

The Chinese businessman will inject £30 million transfer funds for new boss Roberto Di Matteo to spend on players this summer.

He made his money through his ownership of Recon Group, a holding company that has the controlling interest in five publicly listed companies on the Hong Kong and Chinese stock exchanges, employing 35,000 people in 75 countries.

The takeover will be a step forward for the Midland’s club who have endured a miserable few years. They were relegated from the Premier League last for the first time in their history.

Aston Villa fans… What do you think of this news? Is this the start to re-building your club? Will Xia keep his promise of giving the club money to spend? Let us know in your thoughts and opinions below!
