Championship side Hull City have signed Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £3 million as confirmed by the club's official website.

The Spanish attacking midfielder never made an appearance for the Arsenal senior side but gained experience elsewhere during loan spells with Birmingham, Brentford, and Rangers.

This deal comes after it was confirmed that the Tigers’ star midfielder Sam Clucas had departed the club to join Premier League side Swansea City.

Toral becomes the ninth signing from Leonid Slutsky during this summer’s transfer window as the recently relegated club look to make their way back to the top flight at the first time of asking.

The Verdict

This has the potential to be a really good signing for Hull.

Toral shone during his loan spell at Brentford and if he can recapture that form and turn it into something more consistent, £3 million will soon look like an absolute bargain, especially considering they got £16.5 million for Clucas.

Spain has a talent for producing some world class midfielders and whilst it is unlikely Jon Toral will ever evolve into anything more than a good player, that is all Hull need right now.

A creative, versatile midfielder who will be driven to prove a point after never being given his chance at the Gunners.

Watch out Hull fans, you could have a new star on your hands.
