Premier League side AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Wolves striker Benik Afobe for around £10 million, according to the club’s website.
The 22-year-old has signed a four and half year deal at the Vitality Stadium after passing a medical on Sunday, and is Eddie Howe’s second January signing.
Wolves reluctantly accepted the substantial offer for the striker, as he re-instated his desire to leave the club to test himself in the Premier League.
The striker has scored 23 goals in 48 appearances for the Midlands club, including 10 goals this season which makes him the club’s top scorer.
The Premier League side are hoping Afobe will fill the absence of Callum Wilson, after he was ruled out for the season due to injury.
Wolves were without Afobe for their 1-0 FA Cup defeat to West Ham United on Saturday, and they barely troubled the Hammers defence.
The Black Country side will now focus their attention on the league as they currently occupy 11th place in the Championship, and will hopefully spur themselves on for a late play-off push in the second half of the campaign.
Wolves will need to begin their search for a new striker and certainly have the funds to bring in a quality forward to fill the absence of Afobe.
