Doncaster Rovers have made their first summer signing today in the form of Nathan Tyson.
The 32 year-old striker was released by Blackpool this summer after being one season and 10 appearances with the Championship side. Tyson ended last season on loan at Notts County where he helped the Magpies to survival in League One.
Doncaster have been in turmoil following a failed takeover attempt by former chairman John Ryan and One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. As a result, the club have been unable to offer contract extensions or sign new players whilst the uncertainty has been cleared up.
There have reportedly been severe budget cut-backs which has prevented the League One side from completing deals for James Bailey and Ross Turnbull who have now both joined Barnsley.
Tyson was one of a number of players on trial at Paul Dickov’s side and he now becomes the first one to sign permanently after featuring heavily in Doncaster’s pre-season fixtures.
The former Nottingham Forest and Derby County striker has agreed a one-year deal with the club.
