Doncaster Rovers are set to sign former Huddersfield Town defender Peter Clarke, Sky Sports understands.
The 32-year-old is a free agent having been released by Huddersfield at the end of the season.
The former Town captain was a fans’ favourite at the John Smith’s Stadium, making 224 appearances, winning the Player of the Year twice and captained the side to play-off glory in League One two years ago.
A number of clubs, such as Fleetwood Town, Barnsley and Preston, have expressed interest in signing Clarke but it appears now that Doncaster have won the race to land the defender.
Donny boss Paul Dickov is looking to boost his defensive options after Gabriel Tamas and Abdoulaye Meite left the Keepmoat Stadium this summer.
