Doncaster Rovers have announced via the club’s Twitter feed that Aston Villa keeper Jed Steer has joined the club on loan.
The 21 year-old keeper has been with Aston Villa since last summer when he joined from manager Paul Lambert’s former club Norwich City. The keeper has made three appearances for the Villa since joining, once in the FA Cup and twice in the League Cup.
Steer has agreed a three-month loan deal to become Doncaster’s only senior goalkeeper on their books. Previous number one Ross Turnbull left the club for Barnsley last week and his back-up Jon Maxted left the club in acrimonious circumstances last month after turning down a new contract.
Steer’s main experience at first-team level came during a loan spell with Yeovil in the 2011/12 season where he impressed in 12 appearances for the League One side.
The goalkeeper is now expected to be Doncaster’s first-choice stopper for the new season which begins on August 9th.
