MK Dons have continued their impressive summer with the capture of recently-released Manchester United defender Regan Poole, as reported by their official site.

The 20-year-old began his career at Newport County, but was snatched up by the Old Trafford giants before being loaned out to Northampton in League One. He played 18 times for them before rejoining the Exiles on loan this season.

He helped his former club to the League Two play-offs last season, making 26 appearances in total. He's been deemed surplus to requirements at United, but Paul Tisdale has moved quickly to add him to their ranks.

He joins Jordan Bowery, Brennan Dickenson, Hiram Boateng and Joe Mason in making Stadium MK their home, all but one of whom played against the Dons in League Two last season.

Poole, who captains Wales Under 21 side, claimed the move was a 'no-brainer' as soon as he knew there was interest.

“I spoke to the manager and he really interested me in the way he wants to work," he told the club's official site.

"I’ve played against the Club a few times and played here at the stadium and everything about the place just interested me. As soon as I knew they wanted me it was a no brainer."

The move has been widely welcomed by the Dons supporters, who see their pre-season business as hugely encouraging.
