A number of Swansea City supporters have been reacting to the latest reports from Joy997FM reporter Gary Al-Smith that forward Andre Ayew was limping off the field in discomfort following Ghana’s 3-1 win against Sao Tome and Principe.

Ayew did not feature in Ghana’s first game of the international break against South Africa, with Swansea keen for him to avoid having to quarantine upon his return. However, he did play the full 90 minutes of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe and captained the side as they managed to secure an important win in their qualification campaign.

However, Al-Smith’s report after the game shared footage of the forward limping off the field and looking in a lot of discomfort. Although the reporter did suggest that he had received initial reports that the injury was not understood to be anything too serious and that Ayew should potentially be alright and not have suffered much damage.

Steve Cooper’s side will get the chance to properly assess the condition of the forward when he returns to the club at the end of the international break. Swansea will have to hope that Ayew’s issue is not a serious one and then will need to proceed with caution especially in terms of thinking about playing him against Birmingham City on Friday.

Many Swansea fans were left frustrated over the injury and some were suggesting that they were not too surprised to see it happen. Although they were hoping the injury will not prove to be too serious.
