‘Doesn’t fit the system’ – Many Derby County fans react to 25-year-old’s display v QPR

Many Derby County fans have reacted to the inclusion of Jack Marriott in Phillip Cocu’s starting eleven and his performance against Queens Park Rangers.

Tuesday evening’s visit to The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium was looked upon as a must-win for Cocu and his players after a turnaround in fortunes since the turn of 2020.

Having suffered inconsistent form over the first six months of the season, Derby have now moved themselves within touching distance of the play-off places.

But, the defeat to QPR has set the back and they now sit 14th in the Championship standing now drop 11 points behind sixth placed Preston North End.

Which Derby player was born on the 9th of May 1993 in Leeds?

Having fallen behind to a goal from QPR centre back Grant Hall, Cocu’s side did get themselves back in the game when Martyn Waghorn continued his impressive form of late, netting just before the half time break.

Despite a fairly even second half, Derby allowed the home side to grab a winner when Ilias Chair struck with 15 minutes remaining on the clock.

One interesting decision from Cocu prior to the game was the inclusion of Marriott – who has largely been a substitute over recent weeks.

The former Peterborough striker led the line for the Rams, but struggled to make an impact before being replaced by Chris Martin.

Two goals in his 27 appearances this term have left Marriott’s inclusion on Tuesday night up for debate, and fans of the club took to social media platform Twitter to share their opinion on the matter.
