Stat guru, Goodbrand Stats (@StatsChristian), has revealed some of the sensational numbers behind Barry Douglas’ start to life in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Scotsman in sensational form for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Douglas has made 13 appearances in the Championship so far this season, lining up on the left-side of Nuno Espirito Santo’s favoured 3-4-3 formation, bringing width from left wing-back.

The 28-year-old has been involved in nine goals during his opening 13 appearances of the season, with two goals and seven assists to his name already this season.

Douglas’ form over his last six appearances have been particularly impressive, with the wing-back scoring one goal and registering five assists, helping Nuno’s side open up a significant lead at the top of the Championship table.

The Scot has been particularly impressive in the last week, proving his importance to Wolves with two performances against Leeds United and Bolton Wanderers.

Douglas scored a spectacular free-kick in the midweek victory over Leeds, and was once again involved in the goals during Saturday’s 5-1 demolition of Bolton, laying on an assist.

That victory over Bolton on Saturday maintained a four-point lead at the top of the Championship table for Nuno’s side.

The Verdict

Douglas’ form has been very, very good this season for Wolves, and whilst the likes of Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and Leo Bonatini rightly receive plenty of praise, the wing-back’s contribution can never be overlooked.

The 28-year-old has one of the deadliest deliveries in the Championship, which is highlighted with the amount of assists he has registered so far this season.

Douglas has been one of Wolves’ unsung heroes this season.
