Kemar Roofe looks set for a big opportunity at Leeds United following Caleb Ekuban’s injury at the weekend, with the 24-year-old seemingly set for an extended run as the focal point of Thomas Christiansen’s attack.

Ekuban picked up an injury in the 3-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, which allowed Roofe to move into a central area, with the forward repaying Christiansen’s faith by scoring the match winning hat-trick.

Roofe bagged his first goal from a hanging Ezgjan Alioski cross, before doubling Leeds’ lead shorty after, converting an inch-perfect delivery from Pawel Cibicki.

QPR briefly got back into the contest, before Roofe put the result beyond all doubt, converting from just inside the area following a driving run from Samuel Saiz.

As per, Leeds United stat guru, Chris Taylor (@LUFCDATA), has been crunching the numbers from Saturday’s impressive victory, looking at the amount of touches Leeds’ players had.

Luke Ayling had 83, which was more than 20 more than his nearest challenger, Samuel Saiz, who managed just 62.

However, one player who did not feature even in the top-five was Roofe, who managed just 37 touches over 90 minutes.

Ayling, Saiz, Ronaldo Vieira, Gaetano Berardi, Kalvin Phillips, Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper all had more touches than Leeds’ hat-trick hero.

The Verdict

Roofe was extremely clinical on Saturday, which is reflected in this impressive stat.

For a player to have just 37 touches over 90 minutes, but still find the back of the net on three occasions, is extremely impressive.

Leeds will need Roofe to be at his clinical best in the coming weeks.
