Preston North End kick off their campaign at home to Sheffield Wednesday in less than two weeks time, and new boss Alex Neil will relish the prospect of welcoming Carlos Carvalhal’s men to Deepdale, as his side looks to get off to the perfect start.

The Lancashire side firmly established themselves as a mid table Championship outfit under former boss Simon Grayson, recording back to back 11th placed finishes following their return to the division in 2015.

Fans will be excited by what their side can achieve this season, but registering a similar return again would be marked as a successful first year under Neil.

For the Lilywhites to step forward and attempt to improve upon Grayson’s work, players must emerge from the squad and take the proverbial bull by the horns, and one man who could become a talisman for the club next season is forward, Callum Robinson.

A product of the Aston Villa academy, Robinson was deployed in a number of positions last year, yet still managed to find the net on ten occasions whilst registering a further four assists.

If Jordan Hugill departs, then Robinson must become Neil’s new number one, and should be deployed alongside Sean Maguire, who is set to join the club at the end of the month from Cork City.

Robinson’s versatility is a dream to any manager, and the player can be deployed in literally any attacking role Neil can imagine.

At 22, Robinson is beginning to fulfil the potential he showed as a youngster, and as the player grows and progresses, he will only get better and better.

Can Robinson break the 15 goal mark for your side next season, Preston fans?
