Birmingham City have confirmed that they've accepted the nine-point deduction that was handed to them by the EFL.

A potential deduction had been hanging over Blues for much of the campaign and it was finally announced in March that they would be punished.

Garry Monk's men went from play-off hopefuls to relegation candidates as a result, although four points from their past two games has given them a six-point cushion over the bottom three.

And, Blues revealed on their website today that they had drawn a line under the matter as they've accepted the decision.

"The Club can confirm it will not be appealing the nine-point deduction as a result of a breach in the Profitability and Sustainability Rules in the period 2015/16 - 2017/18."

That should give Blues more freedom in the market moving forward and it's fair to say there was a more optimistic outlook from fans after this statement.
