Sunderland's automatic promotion hopes suffered something of a blow on Sunday afternoon, as they were beaten 1-0 by Coventry City at St Andrew's.

Matt Godden's goal inside the first two minutes of the game was enough to secure the win for Coventry City, who move top of the League One table and leave Sunderland four points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

It was a frustrating day for the Black Cats, who missed a number of chances to get themselves level in the match, and did see one equaliser by Luke O'Nien ruled out for offside.

One player who seemed to struggle in particular for Phil Parkinson's side was Tom Flanagan, with the defender missing one glaring opportunity when he volleyed off target from close range while unmarked from a free-kick.

Taking to Twitter to react to Flanagan's performance during and after the game, it seems the defender's all-round performance also left much to be desired for a number of Sunderland fans, who seemed far from impressed with the 28-year-old.

Here, we take a look at what some of those fans had to say.
