Plenty of Swansea City fans and former striker Oli McBurnie have reacted after the club confirmed that defender Cian Harries has joined Eredivisie side Fortuna Sittard on a season-long loan.

The 22-year-old centre-back made six appearances for Swansea in all competitions last season, including two Championship starts.

Harries joined Swansea from Coventry City in July 2017, but had to wait until August 2018 to make first-team debut for the Swans.

The defender made his debut for Swansea under Graham Potter last season, starting the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup at the Liberty Stadium.

Championship Picks

Harries is yet to feature for Swansea this season under new manager Steve Cooper and will now continue his development with the Dutch top-flight side.

Swansea have made a fantastic start to the new season and are currently second in the Championship table on goal difference, after winning four of their opening five league matches.

Plenty of Swansea fans took to social media to react to the news. The majority of fans were pleased for the defender, pointing out that it is a chance for him to experience some valuable game time.

Harries’ former teammate McBurnie – who scored 22 goals for Swansea in the Championship last season – also reacted to the news, wishing the defender all the best at his new club.
