There is no questioning that Jose Gomes did a tremendous job with Reading during the 2018/19 season.

Under Paul Clement the Royals were seemingly in free-fall and were destined to be engulfed in a relegation battle until the bitter end.

But Gomes really galvanised everyone at the Madejski stadium and created a positive atmosphere that the fans had been craving for so long, guiding the comfortably clear of trouble in the end.

However, problems do not look far away with reports surfacing via Sky Sports News that "several clubs" are weighing up a move for the boss, including one Premier League club.

So, how should Reading fans be feeling about this latest news?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"Distraught.

"Gomes has really won the Reading fans over since he took charge of the Royals and the feel-good factor has been well and truly restored at the Madejski Stadium.

"I'd be furious if he departed and it would set the Royals back a long way in their progression in recent months.

"It'll be interesting to see how loyal he is to a club that gave him a chance in English football."

George Harbey

"They should be worried on one hand, but confident of keeping him on the other.

"Gomes has been a revelation since he took the reins at the Madejski - he has really united the fans and ultimately, has picked up some great results.

"He’s building something special at Reading, and he doesn’t strike me as a kind of person that would leave just like that."

Toby Wilding

"This has to be a concern for Reading fans.

"Gomes has given their team a huge boost since his arrival, and they may well have been preparing for League One football net season had he not been brought in.

"It is perhaps no surprise therefore that he is attracting interest from elsewhere, but that won't make the situation any more comfortable for Reading fans."
