Leeds United defender Ben White has been omitted from the shortlist for the August Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award, leaving many Whites fans outraged and confused.

The nominations for the award were announced today and included nods for Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson, Charlton Athletic striker Lyle Taylor, Swansea City defender Mike van der Hoorn, and Brentford forward Ollie Watkins.

Despite currently sitting third and having conceded the fewest goals in the Championship this season, no Leeds player has been included on that list.

White, who joined the Yorkshire club on loan from Brighton this summer, appears to be the obvious candidate.

Other than two Carabao Cup appearances for his parent club, the 21-year-old had never played above League One level prior to this season but was given the difficult task of replacing Pontus Jansson at centre-back.

White has featured in every single game for Leeds this season and has done a fantastic job, looking calm and composed at the heart of their defence.

The defender looks a natural at this level and has provided Marcelo Bielsa with a combination of defensive solidity and excellent distribution.

The nominations were announced on Twitter today and many Leeds fans have been quick to question their man’s omission.
