Norwich took a huge step towards an instant return to the Premier League following a slender win over Rotherham United at Carrow Road.

Whilst the margin of victory perhaps could and should have been far greater after a host of missed opportunities, Teemu Pukki’s first-half strike was enough to send Daniel Farke’s men seven points clear at the top of the Championship.

It was a third-straight league success for the Canaries, whose afternoon was near-perfect after both Brentford and Swansea lost at Coventry and Huddersfield respectively to leave the Carrow Road outfit firm favourites for a second promotion in the space of three seasons.

But whilst Pukki continued his outstanding recent goalscoring form with his fourth goal in three matches and 15th for the campaign altogether, on-loan Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp once again drew most of the plaudits after another outstanding display at the heart of the Canaries midfield.

Unsurprisingly, Skipp’s showing against Millers led to the Norwich faithful paying tribute to the youngster on Twitter after the game.
