Cardiff City suffered defeat on Saturday as they failed to get going in a tough fixture at Stoke City.
The Bluebirds were second best throughout the 90 minutes and couldn’t create any real opportunities that would threaten Stoke’s backline.
It was a lacklustre display, and the day was made much worse for Cardiff and their supporters as creative midfielder Lee Tomlin is now set to miss up-to eight weeks after suffering a knee injury in training.
It’s a massive blow and it could have a massive effect on Cardiff’s chances of getting into the top six this season. They’re now six points off the play-off places with just 12 games remaining, and will be hoping for an instant turnaround in fortunes.
The Bluebirds have some crucial games coming up with the first taking place on Tuesday night as Cardiff host fifth-placed Nottingham Forest at The Cardiff City Stadium.
Football League World asked Facebook group, Only One Cardiff City, what changes should be made for the fixture against Sabri Lamouchi’s side.
Here are some of the replies…
Can you get 100% in this Cardiff City quiz? Have a go now!
Luke Welch: Need something in the number 10 role Ward and Paterson just did not work, as lumping balls forward all game makes it easy. I’d drop Ward and play Hoilett number 10. I still have the faith.
Anthony Burns: New ownership, new management.
Matthew Cook: Ralls in midfield, Bennett dropped and give Glatzel a go up front; Danny Ward seems to make a better impact off the bench imo.
Paul Williams: Try by telling the players that they were a disgrace at Stoke and should refund everyone who paid good money to watch an absolutely disgraceful performance.
Kirsty Louise Richards: A team that actually turns up for a start. I’m by no means a negative Nancy and always see the good or look on the bright side but I was at Stoke Saturday and Cardiff seemed a country mile behind Stoke. No urgency, no real want for the ball. Losing fair and square is all part and parcel of football but when your team doesn’t look like they’re trying it’s bound to get fans disheartened. Push for the win tomorrow hopefully.
Elliott Cantor: Adomah won’t be playing either.. can see a whole new system.
Colin Jones: Boys be realistic we are not good enough to be promoted to come straight back down, I think he’s building for next season.
