Laurence Bassini has registered his interest in buying League Two club Oldham Athletic according to BBC Radio Manchester.

Bassini was last involved with football whilst at Bolton Wanderers, but failed in a bid to buy the club after failing to provide sufficient evidence of funds to the EFL.

BBC Radoi Manchester have also reported that Bassini has already held talks with Oldham on Tuesday over a potential deal.

Oldham could be placed into administration later this week, as they continue to struggle financially after debts owed to former owner Simon Blitz.

The Latics are currently sat 17th in the League Two table, and will be hoping that this off-the-field development doesn't have a negative impact on their performances on the pitch for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Are these Bolton Wanderers statements true or false?

Plenty of Bolton Wanderers fans took to social media to react to this update on Bassini, and many questioned whether he should be allowed to purchase a club again.
