A number of Birmingham City supporters were left disappointed with the performance of defender Marc Roberts following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat at Peterborough United on Saturday.
Lee Bowyer’s side headed into the game aiming to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat at home to Fulham in midweek.
However, the Blues were unable to reach the levels that they have done for most of their opening matches in the Championship and were well beaten by Peterborough.
The damage for Birmingham was done inside the opening 50 minutes where Peterborough capitalised on some poor pieces of defending by the Blues to take complete control of the contest.
That was out of character for Birmingham who had been one of the most solid teams in the league up until their last two matches where they have shipped seven goals.
Roberts endured a difficult afternoon at Peterborough in the first 45 minutes, with the 31-year-old making just one tackle and winning one duel.
The defender was also guilty of giving the ball away on 11 occasions as he endured a poor performance with and without the ball.

Bowyer decided to bring on Dion Sanderson for Roberts at half time and that perhaps showed how much of a struggle it had been for the defender.

Many Birmingham fans were left underwhelmed by the defender’s display and some were suggesting that the time might be right for him to be dropped.
Here, we take a look at some of the best reactions on social media…
Poor from Blues today. Never recovered after conceding so early. Created our own problems, made it so easy for Peterborough. Roberts and Dean, absolutely dreadful, the rest not much better. Hopefully just a (really) bad day at the office. Back to basics! #BCFC

Jukey off for Aneke was a bit of a surprise. Plus Gards and Woods together didn’t work, think Sunjic is criminally underrated tbh regardless of his pricetag.
Also Roberts needs to be dropped next game, Sanderson looks pretty solid.
Hopefully we’ll move on from this week. #BCFC

A bit of a good run makes it easy to forget that this is the same defence that has nearly relegated us over and over again. Roberts and Dean in particular are a disaster waiting to happen and personally I’d have them gone ASAP. Sanderson has to start next week #bcfc

Harlee Dean and Marc Roberts have had a free pass in #bcfc’s defence for far too long. Too much of a liability to push the club forward. Embarrassing, this.

Woods and Roberts have been absolutely appalling today. Really not sure what Sunjic did to deserve dropping to the bench. Yet again Blues have no idea how to deal with 2 of a front 3 tucked in, same for 3 games and still not properly fixed. #bcfc

Dean, Pedersen, Bela, Woods, Roberts and Juke have been awful💀#BCFC

The defence has been a shambles this week.
Dean and Roberts very much looking like their old-selves again. #bcfc

Can people start speaking up about Roberts and Dean please? They’re league one quality at best. #BCFC

Always defended Marc Roberts but today he can't even do that himself.
Cmon lad. #bcfc
