A number of Birmingham City supporters were left disappointed with the performance of defender Marc Roberts following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat at Peterborough United on Saturday.

Lee Bowyer’s side headed into the game aiming to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat at home to Fulham in midweek.

However, the Blues were unable to reach the levels that they have done for most of their opening matches in the Championship and were well beaten by Peterborough.

The damage for Birmingham was done inside the opening 50 minutes where Peterborough capitalised on some poor pieces of defending by the Blues to take complete control of the contest.

That was out of character for Birmingham who had been one of the most solid teams in the league up until their last two matches where they have shipped seven goals.

Roberts endured a difficult afternoon at Peterborough in the first 45 minutes, with the 31-year-old making just one tackle and winning one duel.

The defender was also guilty of giving the ball away on 11 occasions as he endured a poor performance with and without the ball.

Bowyer decided to bring on Dion Sanderson for Roberts at half time and that perhaps showed how much of a struggle it had been for the defender.
