Sheffield Wednesday were dealt another big injury blow today as Jos Luhukay revealed that he would not have Gary Hooper or Kieran Lee available to him until the New Year.

In the same press conference, it was revealed that Sam Winnall would also be missing for another 'few weeks' after injuring his hamstring in an under-23's match on Saturday.

"It is unlikely Hooper and Lee will play for us again this year," Luhukay said.

"They have been out a long time.

"Hopefully they can come back to the team in January"

Hooper is yet to make an appearance this season or this calendar year after picking up his injury against Sheffield United at the end of December last season.

Lee is much the same having suffered his setback against Wolverhampton Wanderers just two weeks earlier than Hooper meaning both will have been out for over a year by the time they return.

Luhukay takes his side to Loftus Road on Tuesday night to face Queens Park Rangers and will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways.

A 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough on Friday night stuttered what was a run of one loss in nine matches and had seen them rise into the playoff spots.

The verdict

The more news that comes out of Sheffield Wednesday of this nature the more you grow suspicious that the club are doing everything possible to prevent these injuries.

Luhukay has done a terrific job to get the Owls back into playoff contention but that looks like it could be scuppered if these injuries do not slow down.
