Richard Stearman is unlikely to feature against Barnsley due to a hamstring injury.

The Blades are likely to be without one of their main centre-backs for a fiercely contested South Yorkshire derby against the Tykes.

Barnsley are currently in the last relegation spot due to Birmingham's resurgence under Garry Monk.

This means they are five points from safety, although they do have a game in hand.

Therefore, they will be desperate for points which should add an extra edge to proceedings especially with the game being at Oakwell.

This is what Chris Wilder had to say in his press conference about Stearman as quoted by The Yorskhire Post: "Jake Wright should come in for Stearman."

"Jake has been great during my time at the club."

The Verdict

United do have a capable back-up in Jake Wright as mentioned by Wilder, but this isn't ideal for such a competitive game. However, if he could choose, Wilder would probably prefer to have Stearman available for the remaining games rather than this one because they play four of the teams around them in their last five games.

Barnsley are really struggling this season, so the Blades should have more than enough to come away with a win, but this is likely to be an entertaining game due to the fact that both sides need a win because of completely different reasons.

A win in this game will allow them to take advantage of the fact that Millwall and Bristol City are playing each other, which is key if they want to finish in the play-offs.
