Lewis Grabban netted his first Aston Villa goal on Tuesday night, rescuing a point for the Villans at home to Preston North End.

Alex Neil's side had the better of the game and Villa were slightly fortunate to snatch a 1-1 draw at Villa Park from a dubious penalty kick.

That doesn't matter to Grabban as he has that all important maiden goal and gets the monkey off his back.

After that first strike, the Bournemouth loanee might have hoped to make it two in two when Villa travel to face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough tomorrow afternoon but that hangs in the balance after a recent injury update from Birmingham Mail journalist Gregg Evans.

There is also bad news with regards Villa's other January signing, Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe.

The Verdict

Villa are looking for a new formula in the continued absence of Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish.

Grabban, with the confidence gained from his first Villa goal, might have hoped to form part of that from the start tomorrow but as an injury doubt, I would expect him to be on the bench at best.

Bruce will likely be reluctant to risk him but now he's got that first goal, the former Hull boss knows he will be on a high if he is sent on to rescue the game again.
