Neil Warnock has suggested that league leaders Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion would not be where they are in a ‘good season’ in the Championship.

Leeds and West Brom are currently sitting pretty in the Championship as they are level on points and nine clear of the chasing pack, with Brentford and Nottingham Forest both on 43 points in third and fourth respectively.

Up until now, there had been little indication of who was going to be the best of the rest in the Championship and most capable of putting the pressure on the top two, but it now appears that those in the current top six look best suited to go the distance where they are now.

However, while the current league positions appear to indicate which sides are looking like the top candidates for the top six, one very striking aspect of the standings is the inconsistency of the sides looking to catch Leeds and West Brom, with just eight points separate third and 15th after 26 games.

Speaking on Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on talkSPORT, former Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock commented on where he believes the best and most talented players lie in the Championship and how he sees the current race for promotion. He stated: “I think Fulham have the best squad in the whole league, I think Brentford have got the best strikers.

“West Brom are Leeds are both up there, but in a good season, I still think they’re both, not run of the mill, but I don’t think they are top of the league if I’m honest.

“I think they’ve just been consistent and that’s why they’re up there.”

Warnock outlined that the current pace-setters are only in the position they are in due to their consistency in results compared to the sides looking to catch them.
