West Bromwich Albion supporters have been debating whether they feel that Kyle Edwards would be able to come in to the side and replace Grady Diangana, were West Ham to recall him from his loan.

Edwards has shown glimpses of his potential during the first half of the campaign, with the 21-year-old making 18 appearances in the Championship, most of which have come from the bench with Slaven Bilic entrusting the attacker to make a difference in the latter stages of matches.

The attacker has found himself having to wait for his chance to be given some regular starts by Bilic, with the trio of Grady Diangana, Matt Phillips and Matheus Pereira all producing real consistent quality in the final third for the Baggies throughout the opening months of the campaign.

The 21-year-old, though, was handed a chance to impress from the start during West Brom's 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic, as Bilic decided to freshen up his side ahead of the festive period, but Edwards struggled to provide the same levels of quality as West Brom's first choice attackers against Wigan.

Edwards might be set for another chance to stake a claim for a starting place over the next few games, with the attacker coming on for Diangana five minutes before half time against Birmingham at the weekend, after the West Ham loanee picked up a hamstring problem.

West Brom through the decade: How much do you remember about the 2011/12 season?

Diangana has been an astute addition to the Baggies, with the attacker having scored five and assisted five goals in his 19 Championship appearances so far this term, but there is still the possibility that he could be recalled by West Ham in January.

The next few games will be important for Edwards, who will need to show that he is ready to come into the side if Diangana was to be recalled by the Hammers, and it will be up to the 21-year-old to show he can produce similar levels of quality for the Baggies.
