Sheffield Wednesday advisors, Erik Alonso and Amadeu Paixao, are offering up different options to Dejphon Chansiri as the club continues to search for Tony Pulis' permanent successor at Hillsborough.

Neil Thompson is in temporary charge of the Owls at this moment in time, with Pulis' departure coming close to a month ago now.

However, there's been very little movement to step on the gas when it comes to a permanent appointment.

Dom Howson has revealed that Alonso has been pushing Wednesday in the direction of Paul Cook, but there's a list of different options coming from Paixao.

Howson told his Q&A with Yorkshire Live: "Erik Alonso and Amadeu Paixao have put names forward. I am led to believe Alonso has pushed for Cook while Paixao has a different shortlist.

"Ultimately, it is the chairman who will decide on what he thinks is best for the club."

Bannan? Reach? – Can you name which Sheffield Wednesday player scored each these 15 goals this season?

Currently, Wednesday sit 23rd in the Championship table and have fallen six points adrift of safety at this early stage of 2021.

They do, however, have two games in hand on Derby County, who are the club that sit narrowly outside the Championship relegation zone.

The Verdict

Chansiri taking time over this appointment suggests he can't settle on any option that has been put in front of him.

Whilst Thompson is proving to be a reasonably safe pair of hands at Hillsborough, there's a need to take pressure off him. Look at the table, it doesn't paint a pretty picture.

Maybe Chansiri and his advisors all pulling in the same direction might help.
