Blackburn Rovers were forced to settle for a point on Saturday, as they were held to a 1-1 draw with play-off chasing Stoke City at Ewood Park.

It was the visitors that took the lead in this one, as Nick Powell headed home the opener from Jordan Thompson's cross from out wide.

But Tony Mowbray's side fought their way back into the game in the second-half, and were rewarded for their efforts as John Buckley equalised with 14 minutes remaining of the match.

James Chester was then shown a straight red card just three minutes later for bringing down Adam Armstrong, when the forward was through on goal.

But Blackburn couldn't find the winner they were chasing though, which means they sit 11th in the Championship table, and six points adrift of the play-off positions.

Jarrad Branthwaite was making his debut for the Lancashire-based side in this one, after arriving on loan from Everton earlier in the week.

The defender will be hoping be hoping he can build on this impressive showing as well, with the 18-year-old winning eight out of the 13 duels he was faced with. Branthwaite also made two interceptions and three successful tackles against the Potters (Sofascore).

Plenty of the Ewood Park faithful took to social media to praise the defender for his performance on his debut.
