Birmingham City's winless start to the Championship season continued last night as they took a point from an entertaining clash against local rivals West Brom.

In truth, Blues deserved much more, with Garry Monk's men the better part for large periods of the game.

It's a similar story for the side, who missed crucial chances to put the game out of Albion's reach.

One player guilty of that was Jota, with the Spaniard missing a penalty with the hosts 1-0 up. His weak effort was comfortably saved by Sam Johnstone.

That had come just minutes after he'd given Blues the lead though after he squeezed the ball in from a tight angle.

As well as that, the former Brentford man didn't let the penalty disappointment impact him as he was awarded man of the match in what was an exciting performance.

Jota constantly ran at the Albion defence and gave Kyle Bartley a torrid time throughout.

Despite the poor spot-kick, many Blues supporters on twitter were pleased with his display, although some still wanted more from the big-money signing.
