Sheffield Wednesday winger Jacob Murphy has been voted the club’s Player of the Month after a positive run in an otherwise poor recent showing from the side as they slip further down the table.

The Owls came into February looking to halt their poor run of form but could only achieve in extending it as their form took an even further dip last month.

The pressure began to mount on Garry Monk as the mood around Hillsborough turned into a very negative one, with a number of players’ futures cast into doubt including Keiren Westwood and Sam Hutchinson who have been frozen out of the squad in the past months.

Having signed on-loan from Newcastle United in the summer, Jacob Murphy had struggled to find consistency but with the club’s dip in form in 2020, Murphy has managed to find some stellar performances and become a bright spark in an otherwise very gloomy run.

Three goals and one assist in his last ten games might not seem like such a formidable return, but it is a testament to how poor the Owls have been recently.

With Wednesday running a fans’ vote each month for their Player of the Month, they weren’t exactly spoilt for choice this month, and eventually, Murphy landed the accolade.

It’s safe to say that the Owls faithful weren’t too pleased with the club’s choice to go ahead with this award after such a torrid run of form. Even though Murphy deserved recognition for his solid performances, these Wednesday fans weren't focusing on anything positive...

Are these Wednesday statements true or false?
