There’s been more promotion backing handed to Leeds United and West Brom, this time from Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman.  

Leeds sit top of the Championship table and West Brom are narrowly behind; if the season is concluded, they are in a strong position to win promotion in the remaining nine games, whilst a conclusion on Points Per Game would see them up.

There’s still plenty to decide, however, with Premier League clubs needing to decide how to resolve their own season and relegation.

For Dalman, though, he believes you need promotion and relegation, not least because of the finances involved in the pursuit of Premier League football.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, Dalman touched on how much money Leeds and West Brom have ploughed into winning promotion, labelling how unfair it would be to see that snatched away given the finances involved.

On the back of that, there’s been a strong reaction from the Leeds fanbase, with some surprised by the backing they receive from rivals Cardiff…
