Sheffield United are having a fine season under Paul Heckingbottom in 2021/22.

With just two games left to play, the Blades sit sixth in the Championship standings, occupying the final play-off place.

Given they have done so well, there have been far less negatives than positives at Bramall Lane this season, however, certain players did fail to live up to expectations.

With that being said, we asked FLW's Blades fan pundit Owain Wyse for his thoughts on the player that could be deemed flop of the season at Bramall Lane in 2021/22.

"Flop of the season - there's a few contenders for this position." Owain told FLW.

"Adlene Guedioura was a completely pointless signing, I think he only made one appearance for us."

"Conor Hourihane hasn't reached the heights that we hoped he would, but, for me, the stand out is certainly Robin Olsen."

"He was brought in as a international goalkeeper, he looked shaky from crosses and didn't exactly instil confidence with his shot stopping."

"He kept one clean sheet in eleven games before getting injured, losing his place and then throwing the toys out the pram to go and sit on Aston Villa's bench."

"So, he's certainly flop of the season for me."

The Verdict

It's hard to argue with this one.

Olsen was seen as a good signing for the Blades following their relegation to the second-tier but things did not work out at all.

Having only kept one clean sheet during his 11 matches, and conceding 17 goals in those too, Olsen didn't have a good start to life at Bramall Lane.

Wes Foderingham stepped up in his absence and has proved a safe pair of hands in his place ever since, keeping a remarkable 17 clean sheets in 30 Championship appearances this campaign.

Olsen meanwhile, since joining Aston Villa, has yet to make a single appearance for the club.

He can certainly go down as a Blades' flop of the season.
