‘Didn’t do anything’, ‘I feel for him’ – Many Birmingham City fans react to one player’s performance against Luton

Aitor Karanka’s tricky start to life as Birmingham City boss continued on Tuesday night following a frustrating 1-1 draw against Luton Town.

The Blues arrived at Kenilworth Road on a three-match winless run, although looked on course to keep up their impressive form on the road when Lukas Jutkiewicz thumped home his second league goal of the campaign from the penalty spot.

However, like so often in Karanka’s short reign, the Blues conceded a sloppy goal – with Matthew Pearson hooking home Luton’s equaliser from close-range, although goalkeeper Neil Etheridge will feel he should have kept it out.

Alex McLeish had a higher win percentage as Birmingham manager than Chris Hughton?

Etheridge atoned for his earlier mistake before producing a series of impressive saves, including one top class save from Hatters frontman James Collins from point-blank range.

But whilst Jutkiewicz got himself on the scoresheet, his strike-partner, Scott Hogan, endured a frustrating afternoon against Nathan Jones’ side – with the response to his performance relatively mixed from Blues supporters on social media.

Some of the St Andrew’s faithful felt he was unfortunate to have been substituted, whilst another described the former Aston Villa frontman as ‘useless’.
