Huddersfield Town are currently writing a new chapter in their history under the management of Danny Cowley, following their brief adventure in the top flight under David Wagner and Jan Siewert.

The Terriers have a very prestigious history that they boast proudly on their crest, with their three stars representing three successive First Division titles back in the 1920s.

Times haven’t been as fruitful for Huddersfield but the John Smith’s Stadium has seen some memorable moments in recent years, with promotion to the Premier League in 2017 closely followed by a victory over titans Manchester United, before being brought back down to Earth in their following season with a pretty abysmal points tally.

The departure of Siewert and arrival of the Cowley brothers seems to have signalled the start of the Terriers next long-term plan for the club, with a lot of change set to take place at the club over the summer.

Thanks to a lot of ups and downs, there’s a lot of interesting trivia to be had with Town, so here, we take a look at two facts that you may not have known about the Terriers…

Friendly neighbours

When Leeds United were first being brought into inception, there was a lot of fuss about how they were going to manage the financial aspects of running a newly-founded football club.

Before United there was Leeds City, and their former boss, Herbert Chapman, was at the helm at Huddersfield when United came into being, going on to win those three First Division titles.

Town loaned their West Yorkshire neighbours £35,000 to get the club off the ground, only to be paid back when United won the First Division themselves – Huddersfield were made to wait until 1969 for the money back.

The early days of these two clubs coexisting was one completely founded out of respect, seeing Leeds copy the famous Blue and Whites stripes for their own kit from the beginning.

Have these 15 played for both the Terriers and Bradford City?

Untouched goalscoring record

Since the Third Division has come into the title of League One, a number of the EFL’s biggest talents have plied their trade in the third tier, with a number of players in the current England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland sides all featuring in the division.

One of the most, if not the most, prolific marksman in League One was on the books at Huddersfield Town during his spell in the third tier.

Jordan Rhodes’ 2011/12 season at Huddersfield has been unrivalled in his output in front of goal, with his 36 league goals for the Terriers in a single season barely even contested by the rest of the competition before or after his emergence.

There has been no player to even get past 30 goals in the division and Huddersfield boast that Rhodes’ goals have helped massively to boost the Terriers to where they are today.
