It promises to be an interesting end to the season for all concerned with Derby County, whenever all EFL matches are resumed.

Games have been suspended until April the 30th at the earliest, leaving the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign as the country continues to combat the spread of coronavirus.

If, rather than when, the season is resumed, then Derby County will be looking to get their unlikely play-off push back on track after what has been a rather up and down season for the Rams.

Phillip Cocu's men looked to be well out of the play-off mix a month or so ago, but after two wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers, a top-six finish could be on the cards.

Can you get full marks on this Derby quiz?

Cocu's side sit five points off the play-offs with only nine league games left to play this term, leaving plenty of fans surprised at the prospect of a late push for the top-six spots.

On the topic of surprises, here, we take a look at two Derby County facts that may leave a few people surprised...

Over 100,000 fans watched their most spectated game

Derby came up against arguably the biggest football club in the world, Real Madrid, way back in 1975.

The Rams faced the Spanish giants in the second round of the European Cup, and won 4-1 at the Baseball Ground thanks to goals from Charlie George and David Nish.

In the second leg, though, Derby lost 5-1 - 6-5 on aggregate - as a George goal was unable to send them through to the third round.

Over 120,000 fans packed into the Bernabeu that night, which is still Derby's most spectated game in the East Midlands' long, proud history.

The worst team ever to play in the Premier League

This is a fact that most Derby fans would have wanted to forget all about, but fans of other clubs may not know about this.

Derby, to this day, are statistically the worst team ever to play in the Premier League since its formation, enduring a dismal campaign in the top-flight in 2007/08.

The Rams were managed by Billy Davies until Paul Jewell took over in November, but they finished 20th after picking up just 11 points.

They managed to pick up only one win, which came against Newcastle United in mid-September, but things failed to pick up after that.
