Having opted to part ways with former manager Garry Monk last summer following the 2018/19 campaign, Birmingham City initially made a mixed start to life under the guidance of head coach Pep Clotet.

After struggling to deliver the goods on a consistent basis during the first-half of the season, the Blues have stepped up their performance levels in the Championship since the turn of the year.

When the campaign does eventually resume, Birmingham will be aiming to achieve a relative amount of success in the second-tier.

Although a play-off place may already out of reach, there is no reason why the Blues cannot seal a top-half finish providing that they are able to maintain their form in the remaining nine games of the season.

Here, we take a look at TWO Birmingham facts that you may not have known...

Since joining the Blues, Scott Hogan has scored the highest amount of goals in the Championship

Having failed to deliver the goods for Stoke City earlier this season, Scott Hogan opted to join Birmingham on a short-term loan deal from Aston Villa in January.

Since scoring on his debut for the Blues last month, the forward has taken his goal tally for his new side to seven in just eight appearances.

Whilst Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ollie Watkins have both continued to impress for Fulham and Brentford, they haven't been able to match Hogan's exceptional form as he has netted more goals than anybody else in the Championship following his move to St Andrew's.

Birmingham have achieved promotion from the second-tier on 11 occasions

Whilst the Blues are currently set for another season in the second-tier, it would not be at all surprising if they launch a push for promotion in the coming years given the amount of success that they have achieved at this level during their history.

Since securing top-flight football in 1894, Birmingham have sealed promotion on 10 further occasions from the Championship.

The Blues' most recent triumph occurred in the 2008/09 season as then-manager Alex McLeish guided the club to a second place finish behind champions Wolverhampton Wanderers.
