Stoke City's campaign did not get off to the best start as they were beaten on their own patch by Queens Park Rangers.

After what had been an impressive summer of transfer business for the Potters, the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mark Warburton's side was a bitterly disappointing way to begin proceedings.

But attentions quickly turned back to the transfer window and on Wednesday they landed their eighth signing of the summer with Scott Hogan following the likes of Nick Powell, Liam Lindsay and Lee Gregory into the club.

Hogan joins on a season-long loan from Aston Villa and will be eager to rediscover his goalscoring touch after having a torid time since leaving Brentford in the January transfer window of 2017.

During his time with Villa he found the back of the net just ten times in 61 appearances, spending the second half of last season on loan with Sheffield United.

And it is a signing that has split opinion among the Stoke fans as well...
