Cardiff City have begun their search for Neil Warnock's replacement, with one of the names emerging from the hat being current Charlton boss, Lee Bowyer.

Bowyer is one of the candidates being shortlisted, according to The Sun.

The 42-year-old has done a fine job at the Valley, guiding Charlton back to the Championship last season, and establishing them as a team that could mount a play-off challenge this campaign.

It is no surprise that the Addicks boss is being lined up as a potential replacement for Neil Warnock, as he has established himself as one of brightest up and coming managers in the EFL.

Despite the links that are being reported between Cardiff and Lee Bowyer, it has been reported by South London Press sports journalist Richard Cawley that no approach has been made for the Charlton manager by the Welsh club, as shown in the tweet below:

The Verdict

What we can deduce from this information is it's now clear that Neil Harris is now the lead front runner for the vacant job at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Without an official approach for Bowyer, it makes it seem that the links to the Charlton boss are pure speculation rather than concrete findings.

As it has also been reported that Cardiff want to get the appointment over the line in the next 72 hours, time is running out for Mehmet Dalman and Vincent Tan to ask Charlton for permission to speak to their manager.
