Derby have been dealt a double injury blow with Craig Forsyth and Mason Bennett both set for an extended time out.

The club confirmed the bad news on their website this evening, with left-back Forsyth suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury - the third of his career.

Meanwhile, things weren't as severe for 22-year-old Bennett, although he is set to meet a specialist as they look to determine the extent of a hamstring injury.

The pair were forced off in the 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, with Bennett lasting five minutes into the second half, whilst Forsyth was replaced in the 80th minute.

Both players had established themselves as important members of the squad under Frank Lampard, with Forsyth playing 13 times this season in the league.

And, academy graduate Bennett had featured 14 times, with the majority of those as a sub, although his performances from the bench had seen him start against Dean Smith's men.

As you would expect, Derby supporters were extremely disappointed with the news and felt for the players.
